ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Navy won the final two bouts to pull away from a 16-16 tie and upend the Duke wrestling team 22-16 in Alumni Hall Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils rallied from a 13-0 deficit, but couldn't quite complete the comeback.

Duke falls to 2-2 on the season after consecutive setback. The Midshipmen improve to 4-2 overall on the year.

Navy jumped out to a 13-0 lead with victories in the opening three bouts, of which six points came via forfeit. The Blue Devils got on board with a pin from sixth-ranked Mitch Finesilver at 149 pounds. The senior captain dominated action against Chris Hisey and put the Midshipmen on his back in the third period to record his second fall of the year and his 82nd career victory.

Benjamin Anderson, returning to the mat after missing last week's action, tacked on three more points for Duke with a thrilling 6-4 decision over Quentin Hovis at 157. The Midshipman scored the early takedown for a 2-1 lead, but Anderson responded to make it 3-2 and eventually 4-3 after two periods.

Hovis, starting in the down position in the third, evened the bout with an escape, but it was Anderson scoring a takedown as the final seconds ticked away. It is the fifth win of the year for the first-year starter and his second dual triumph.

The Midshipmen extended their lead back to seven points with a 12-7 decision at 165, but the Blue Devils scored victories from Matt Finesilver and Kaden Russell in the next two bouts to even the team score at 16 apiece.

Matt, ranked 17th nationally, was locked in a tight affair throughout much of his 174-pound match against No. 19 Spencer Cary. The sophomore used a strong third-period takedown to ice the 5-0 decision. Classmate Russell followed that with a strong 11-2 major decision at 184.

Russell, leading 8-2 with riding time locked up, secured the major decision with five seconds left and equalized the team score. It is Russell's 14th win of the year, double what he had his freshman campaign.

Alec Schenk stepped onto the mat at 197 looking to give the Blue Devils their first lead of the afternoon. The senior captain led early, scoring a takedown in the first period, but a strong third period from Joshua Roetman of Navy gave the Midshipmen the 4-2 decision and the 19-16 edge in the team score.

At heavyweight with Araad Fisher giving up a lot of weight to Navy's Thomas Ott, Fisher battled tough, but couldn't best the senior as the Mids hung on for the 22-16 team win.

Duke opens ACC action Friday, Jan. 25 at No. 8 NC State. The match will begin at 7 p.m., in Reynolds Coliseum. The Blue Devils remain on the road at Old Dominion Sunday, Jan. 27.
