DURHAM, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its academic awards list Thursday, with Duke earning a spot on this year's ITA All-Academic Teams list. In addition to the team honor, rising seniors Chalena Scholl and Alyssa Smith, rising junior Rebecca Smaller and rising sophomores Jessica Ho and Kaitlyn McCarthy also received recognition for individual academic accomplishments.
In order for a team to be considered for the ITA All-Academic Team award, a program must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.20, while an individual must be a varsity letter winner, maintain a grade point average of at least 3.50 during the current academic year and must be enrolled at the school for at least two semesters to be considered for the ITA Scholar-Athlete honor.
Duke was joined by 10 other ACC schools on the list, including Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, NC State, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest.
Scholl earned a spot on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list for the third consecutive year, while Smith, Smaller, Ho and McCarthy each garnered the award for the first time in their respective careers.
More than 4,200 scholar-athletes were recognized across all divisions, along with over 700 all-academic teams.
