Oshrine Named All-America Scholar

NORMAN, Okla. – Following a successful first season as a member of the Duke men's golf program, rising senior Matt Oshrine has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the 2016 honorees on Wednesday.

Oshrine, an economics major from Baltimore, ranked second on the team with a 72.82 stroke average in 33 rounds in 2015-16, his first season at Duke. He was named ACC Golfer of the Month in March after winning the Seahawk Intercollegiate, and he finished the campaign with a total of four top-10 performances.

Oshrine led the Blue Devils in par-three scoring in 2015-16 (3.10), and carded par or better in 14 of his 33 rounds.

He was previously named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the 2015-16 men's golf season.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar honors, student-athletes must meet a number of criteria, including maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 and having a sub-76.00 stroke average while competing in at least 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds. A student-athlete must also be in his junior or senior year academically.
