DURHAM, N.C. – Duke freshman Margaux Paolino has been named to the U.S. U21 women's national team that will represent the United States at the 2016 Hockey Junior World Cup (JWC) Nov. 23-Dec. 4 in Santiago, Chile.
Paolino was one of 14 athletes selected to the initial JWC roster with four more to be added at the end of September.
Over the summer, Paolino helped the U.S. U21 squad secure its berth at the JWC with a runner-up finish at the Junior Pan American Games. The Villanova, Pa., native found the back of the cage against Barbados in the tournament quarterfinals and scored again in a 5-0 semifinal victory over Chile.
Paolino and the U.S. U21 team also claimed gold at USA Field Hockey's Young Women's National Championships (YWNC) in June.
Paolino joins the Duke program after guiding Episcopal Academy to a state title last fall. The Daily Times Player of the Year, she also collected first team All-America recognition while leading her prep team to an undefeated season and No. 4 national ranking as a senior.
