DURHAM, N.C. – Former Blue Devil All-American Stefanie Fee has been named an assistant coach at Maryland, as announced last week by head coach Missy Meharg. Fee will head to College Park after competing with the U.S. women's national team at next month's Olympic Games in Rio.
Fee has been a member of the U.S. senior national team since graduating from Duke in 2012, and has totaled 90 caps in that time. Most recently, she helped Team USA claim bronze at the Champions Trophy in June. She also assisted the squad in winning gold at last summer's Pan American Games in Toronto, which solidified the team's trip to Rio.
A standout on the back line for the Blue Devils, Fee started every contest for Duke during her four years in Durham. She guided the Blue Devils to a pair of NCAA quarterfinals appearances and garnered second team All-America honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) her senior year. The Virginia Beach, Va., native graduated from the university in 2012 with a degree in psychology before serving as the program's volunteer assistant coach during the 2012 campaign.
Fee and Team USA round out the Citi Rio Send-Off Series Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The contest will be streamed live on usafieldhockey.com.
