Loperfido Named ACC Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke outfielder Joey Loperfido was named ACC Player of the Week after a successful week at the plate, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
 
Loperfido batted 10-for-15 through four games as the Blue Devils went 2-2 over the past week. The Haddonfield, N.J., native went 2-for-4 against William & Mary in a midweek contest before leading the Blue Devils at No. 15 Louisville, going 8-for-11 (.727) with four runs, two doubles and a home run.
 
The senior is enjoying one of his best years to date, batting .357 with 12 doubles, two triples and four home runs this season. In addition, Loperfido has been one of the top players in the conference, ranking fourth in the ACC in on-base percentage (.471), sixth in batting average (.357), tied for 12th in runs scored (37), tied for eighth in doubles (12) and third in hit by pitch (11).
 
Loperfido is continuing to have a storied Duke career, boasting a .306 batting average with 175 career hits, which ranks in the top 160 active Division I athletes in the country.
 
Loperfido is Duke's first weekly award winner of the season. It was the first award of his career.
