DURHAM, N.C.—Seven members of the Duke men's lacrosse team were selected to the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. The Blue Devils have three repeat honorees and four first-time selections to the squad.
Seniors Deemer Class, Jamie Ikeda and Case Matheis and juniors Danny Fowler, Teddy Henderson, Kyle Rowe and Ian Yanulis all represented Duke on the squad. Class is the lone four-time recipient on the 32-player list, while Yanulis and Kyle Rowe joined him as multiple-time honorees. Ikeda, Matheis and Fowler and Henderson earned the recognition for the first time.
Class is one of nine of the conference's All-ACC selections to earn a nod.
ACC Champion Syracuse tops the list with nine selections, while both Notre Dame and NCAA Champion North Carolina landed six players. Virginia had four voted to the team.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Under head coach John Danowski, the Blue Devils have earned 115 All-ACC Academic awards. Duke has landed at least seven student-athletes each year and has led the conference every year prior to 2016.
The Blue Devils finished the year 11-8 overall and fell to Loyola in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
