DURHAM, N.C. – On the heels of its 44-41 overtime win over Indiana in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, Duke landed five selections on ESPN's All-ACC Bowl Team. Tabbed to the unit were running back
Jela Duncan, kicker
Ross Martin, offensive guard
Lucas Patrick, center
Matt Skura and running back
Shaun Wilson.
Duncan, a redshirt junior from Charlotte, N.C., gained 109 rushing yards on 13 carries to average 8.4 yards per attempt with a long run of 32 yards.
Martin, a senior from Solon, Ohio, connected on all three of his field goal attempts while converting five PAT tries. His field goals covered 52, 34 and 36 yards to push his Duke single-season record total to 26. Martin's 36-yard field goal in overtime proved to be the game-winning points.
Patrick, a redshirt senior from Brentwood, Tenn., and Skura, a redshirt senior from Columbus, Ohio, opened holes for three Blue Devils to top the 100-yard plateau on the ground for just the second time in school history. Duke amassed 23 first downs and 536 total yards on the day as the offensive front surrendered just one quarterback sack. In addition, the 44 points marked a New Era Pinstripe Bowl record.
Wilson, a sophomore from Charlotte, N.C., was named the bowl game's co-MVP after totaling 282 all-purpose yards. Highlighted by an 85-yard touchdown run that matched the school record for longest rush from scrimmage, he finished the day with 103 yards on the ground on just nine carries. In addition, Wilson added a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
