GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Three members of the 23rd-ranked Duke women's tennis team received All-ACC honors, as announced by the conference office Wednesday morning. Duke's three representatives on the All-ACC team are tied for the second most in the conference with North Carolina and Virginia also placing three student-athletes on the list. Clemson saw the most members of its team on the All-ACC squad, with four.
Junior Beatrice Capra garnered All-ACC First Team honors for the third time in her career, while senior Ester Goldfeld received All-ACC Second Team accolades, her fourth All-ACC team recognition of her career. Freshman Samantha Harris rounded out Duke's representation, garnering All-ACC Third Team accolades.
Capra earned a 7-5 ACC regular season record this year, with all of her matches coming at the No. 1 position. She has also excelled in doubles this season, playing primarily alongside Harris to amass a perfect 4-0 mark in conference contests. Overall, Capra and Harris own a 9-3 doubles ledger, and carry a team-best four-match win streak into tournament play Friday.
Goldfeld, a product of Brooklyn, N.Y., is the only four-time All-ACC honoree on this year's team. During the 2014-15 campaign, Goldfeld has amassed an overall record of 25-12, which leads the Blue Devils this season. Goldfeld has reached 25 singles wins for the third time in her college career, and surpassed the 100-win mark earlier in the year with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Danielle Collins of Virginia. Goldfeld has served as Duke's highest ranked singles player in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) poll, and currently ranks 39th.
Harris is one of six freshmen named to the All-ACC team. The Melbourne, Australia, native became just the sixth rookie in Duke history to reach double-digit conference wins following a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win over Notre Dame's Julie Brabel Sunday. Harris has defeated three of the six nationally ranked players she has faced this season and owns the second most singles wins on Duke's team this year, with 22. Harris has paired with Capra to earn a perfect 5-0 record when playing at the No. 2 position in doubles.
Duke is set to compete in the ACC Tournament, opening play against sixth-seed Georgia Tech, 11th-seed Wake Forest or 14th-seed NC State Friday, April 24 at 3 p.m. in Cary, N.C.
