Clark Honored for Strength & Conditioning Excellence

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Adding to an already impressive awards collection over a stellar senior campaign, Duke pole vaulter Megan Clark was honored by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a 2016 All-American Athlete Award recipient, as announced by the organization Thursday.

Nominated by Alex Merrill, an assistant sports performance coach at Duke, the award recognizes Clark's athletic accomplishments and dedication to strength and conditioning.

“We are never content with being average when it comes to our training, and Megan is a great example of this,” Merrill said. “Every day she brings a positive attitude, great focus and the effort required to maximize her training sessions. She is extremely coachable which consistently allows me to challenge her to reach her full potential. It's a privilege every day to work with an athlete and person like Megan Clark.”

Clark has been nothing short of spectacular in her final season at Duke, earning ACC Women's Indoor Field Performer of the Year honors after winning gold in the women's pole vault at the ACC Indoor Championships and silver at the NCAA Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, the Fort Benning, Ga., native recently established the ACC record in the pole vault with a clearance of 15-2.25 (4.63m) as the Blue Devils gear up for postseason competition.

About the National Strength & Conditioning Association
The NSCA is an international non-profit educational association founded in 1978. Evolving from a membership of 76, the association now serves nearly 30,000 members in 52 countries. Drawing upon its vast network of members, the NSCA develops and presents the most advanced information regarding strength training and conditioning practices, injury prevention and research findings.

Unlike any other organization, the NSCA brings together a diverse group of professionals from the sport science, athletic, allied health and fitness industries. These individuals are all in pursuit of achieving a common goal—the utilization of proper strength training and conditioning to improve athletic performance and fitness.

Central to its mission, the NSCA provides a bridge between the scientist in the laboratory and the practitioner in the field. By working to find practical applications for new research findings in the strength and conditioning field, the association fosters the development of strength training and conditioning as a discipline and as a profession.

Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the NSCA serves as a valuable resource for its members, the fitness industry, general public and the media. The association provides a wide variety of resources and opportunities designed to strengthen, build, advance and unify.
