Blue Devils Set for NCAA East Preliminary Round

DURHAM, N.C. – With trips to the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships on the line, members of the Duke track & field program will travel to Jacksonville, Fla., for the NCAA East Preliminary Round May 26-28. Competing at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium, the Blue Devils will need to place among the top 12 in their respective events to advance to the national meet.

Return to Eugene
• Four of the five Blue Devils that qualified for the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships will look to earn another bid in 2016, with redshirt senior Teddi Maslowski already qualified in the heptathlon.
• This will be the third straight season Maslowski competes in Eugene, qualifying in the heptathlon in 2015 and running with the women's 4x400 team in 2014.
• Senior Megan Clark and sophomore Madison Heath both qualified in the women's pole vault in 2015, while redshirt senior Thomas Lang competed at nationals in the men's javelin in 2014 and 2015.
• All three are ranked inside qualifying range, with Clark and Heath seeded first and ninth, respectively, and Lang seeded 12th.

Maslowski Qualifies For Heptathlon
• Redshirt senior Teddi Maslowski knows she will be heading to the NCAA Outdoor Championships after qualifying in the heptathlon for the second straight season.
• With a score of 5,569 set at the Mt. SAC Relays earlier this spring, Maslowski heads to Eugene seeded 23rd in the competition. Her personal best and school-record score of 5,706, produced at the 2015 Mt. SAC Relays, would rank 14th among this year's field.
• Maslowski's last heptathlon was at the ACC Outdoor Championships where she finished fourth with a score of 5,537.
• Maslowski is also set to compete in the women's 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles and 4x400 relay.

Going the Distance
• Of the six Blue Devils seeded in the top 12 of their respective events, three are distance runners.
• Graduate student Shaun Thompson and senior Anima Banks each rank in the top three, with Thompson owning a men's 10,000 time of 28:47.48 to earn the No. 2 seed and Banks running a 2:02.50 in the women's 800 to claim the No. 3 seed.
• Senior Madison Granger rounds out the crew, seeded eighth in the women's 1,500 after clocking a 4:18.67.

Banks Shines at ACC Outdoor Championships
• Competing in five races over the course of the three-day event, senior Anima Banks put together one of the finest finishing days in Duke history.
• After qualifying for finals in both the women's 800 and 1,500, Banks kicked off Sunday with a silver medal in the 1,500, clocking a personal-best 4:14.67, then returned an hour later to claim another silver medal in the 800 final with a personal-record time of 2:02.50.
• Both times rank second in the Duke records book, while the 800 time of 2:02.50 earned Banks an automatic-qualifying spot at the U.S. Olympic Trials in July.

Red, White and Blue Devils
• Two Blue Devils have already earned automatic bids to July's U.S. Olympic Trials.
• Senior Megan Clark has passed the automatic standard of 14-9.00 (4.50m) in the women's pole vault multiple times this season, owning an ACC-record vault of 15-2.25 (4.63m).
• Fellow senior Anima Banks earned her spot in the women's 800 earlier this month at the ACC Outdoor Championships, dipping under the standard of 2:03.00 with a 2:02.50 showing to finish second overall.

Historic Season for Pole Vaulters
• Senior Megan Clark cemented her spot among the all-time collegiate greats this season by clearing 15-2.25 (4.63m), which set the ACC record and ranks fourth in NCAA outdoor history.
• Clark is one of three collegians to clear at least 15 feet this outdoor season, the most ever in any one season.

Price's Assault on the Records Book
• Sophomore sprinter Maddy Price, who is scheduled to compete in the women's 400 and 4x400, kicked off the 2016 outdoor season in impressive fashion, taking down two school records during the first two weeks of competition.
• Price opened the campaign by breaking the women's 100 mark at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 11.65, then set the women's 200 record at the Battle of the Blues the following weekend, clocking a 23.48.
• The sophomore out of Hillsborough, Calif., also ranks second all-time in Duke history in the women's 400 after running a 53.50 at the ACC Outdoor Championships.
