DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University rising junior
Christina Gibbons will travel to Lakewood Ranch, Fla., to train with the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team from April 26-May 3. Gibbons is one of 24 collegiate players selected to participate.
The camp will be used as a final evaluation to pick a 20-player roster that will travel to Norway in May to play the U-23 teams from Sweden, Norway and England.
Gibbons, who hails from Raleigh, N.C., will compete for the first time with the U-23 Women's National Team, after playing with the U.S. U-20 Women's National Team in the World Cup this past summer in Canada. She played every minute of each of the final three matches for the U.S. A Second Team All-ACC selection as a sophomore at Duke, Gibbons scored three goals, added three assists and had a total of nine points on the season. She netted the game-winning goal at Pittsburgh in a 3-0 victory.
