Banks Earns ACC Performer of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior middle-distance runner Anima Banks has been tabbed the ACC Women's Outdoor Track Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday. Banks also earned the accolade once during the indoor season after setting the school record in the indoor 800.

Competing as Duke's lone representative against some of the top collegiate and professional runners at the Payton Jordan Invitational Sunday in Stanford, Calif., Banks placed third in her section of the women's 800 with a time of 2:04.38, an outdoor personal best and No. 3 in the Duke outdoor records book. Banks led the pack through the halfway point of the race, clocking in at 1:00.00 through her first lap, before capping the race with a 1:04.38 second lap.

Across the six women's 800 sections, the time for the Mamaroneck, N.Y., product ranked as the third-fastest performance among collegiate runners and 18th overall. Looking at the national standings, Banks' time currently stands as the 16th-fastest time in NCAA Division I and leads the ACC.
