DURHAM, N.C. – Duke middle blocker Leah Meyer has garnered ACC Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season as announced by the league Monday, Nov. 23. She also earned the distinction Sept. 7.
Meyer totaled a team-best 22 kills over two ACC road matches against Miami and No. 20 Florida State. She knocked down double-digit kills and added at least 4.0 blocks in both matches. For the weekend, Meyer committed just one attack error on 41 swings, hitting .512. Following her standout performances, she has surpassed 10 kills 14 times this season, including a streak of six straight matches.
In Duke's Friday sweep at Miami, Meyer led the Blue Devils with 12 kills. She did not commit an attack error and hit .545 while contributing 4.0 blocks. The Clarence, N.Y., native followed that performance with a team-high 10 kills on a .474 hitting percentage to go along with six blocks Sunday at No. 20 Florida State.
Meyer and the Blue Devils return to action Wednesday, Nov. 25, welcoming NC State at 1 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. ESPN3 is set to broadcast the match.
