DURHAM, N.C. – Duke offensive tackle Takoby Cofield will participate in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl scheduled for Saturday, January 17 at the StubHub Center on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills.  Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised by ESPN2.

A 6-4, 310-pound native of Tarboro, N.C., Cofield played in 51 career games, including starting his last 42 consecutive contests. He totaled 3,274 career snaps played. As a senior, Cofield earned third team All-ACC honors after helping the Blue Devils lead the nation in fewest tackles for loss allowed per game (3.15). Cofield opened holes for a Duke rushing attack that averaged 181.85 yards per contest, the program's highest mark since 1977. He also was an anchor for a line that led the ACC in fewest sacks allowed per passing attempt (36.23). This year's team was the first in program history to average 180-plus rushing yards and 210-plus passing yards per game. 

Cofield helped Duke to 28 victories in his four seasons including three bowl game berths and the 2013 ACC Coastal Division championship.

Saturday, Cofield will play for the American squad, which is coached by Mike Holmgren, who earned a Super Bowl ring when guiding the 1996 Green Bay Packers to the league title. Holmgren has more than two decades of NFL experience, including head coach of the Packers (1992-98) and Seattle Seahawks (1999-2008) and president of the Cleveland Browns (2010-12). The National Team will be coached by Mike Martz, the head coach of the St. Louis Rams from 2000-05. Prior to taking over as head coach, he was the offensive coordinator of the Rams' “Greatest Show on Turf” squad that won the 1999 Super Bowl.

In addition to the game being televised Saturday, the teams' Wednesday and Thursday practices will be televised live on ESPNU and are also available on WatchESPN.
